SANDAKAN : More than 30 players will be battling it out for the Datuk Vincent Pang Challenge shield in the Government vs Commercial Team Tennis Tournament this July 29 and 30.
Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA) president Fernando D. Rulloda said the event which is one of the prestigious tournaments in Sandakan Tennis calendar, will be played at the SDTA courts in Mile 2 1/2 Jalan Utara commencing July 29 ( Friday) afternoon.
"It is an all doubles event with players from both the public and private sectors playing in games slated over two days. We will also have female players taking part in the tournament," Fernando said.
This tournament has succeeded in its objectives of promoting greater friendship and rapport between the Government and Commercial sectors. Since its inception, this tournament has become an important social event in Sandakan Tennis calendar, he said.
"Karamunting State Assemblyman Charles O. Pang is the Guest of Honour and he will be officiating the prize presentation and closing ceremony at the SDTA clubhouse on Saturday," Fernando added.
