SANDAKAN: The Sandakan
Yacht Club held a gotong royong during the outing for its members to Pulau
Berhala on Sunday.
Sandakan Yacht Club
commodore Daniel Liaw said the outing was to enable members to spend the
weekend forging rapport through involvement in a community service programme.
We held a gotong royong
to clean the beach and surrounding areas of rubbish. The objective of the
cleanliness drive was to create awareness on the importance of keeping our
environment clean, Daniel added.
According to Daniel,
they brought back 48 bags of rubbish collected in the gotong royong to be
disposed in Sandakan.
“A total of 103
participants including members and the SYC General Committees took part in the
event held from 8am to 4pm,” Daniel said.
Daniel expressed
appreciation to the Sandakan Municipal Council particularly president Datuk
James Wong for its support towards the programme.
